Things to Do in Uluwatu for Couples

Two hands together, each wearing a hammered silver ring made in the Couple Silver Class

For couples, the best things to do in Uluwatu mix the island's big sights with something you do together: make matching silver rings in a couple class, watch the Kecak dance at Uluwatu Temple at sunset, spend a slow morning on a quiet beach, and book a couples massage. At Bali Jewelry House in Ungasan, the Couple Silver Class costs Rp 1.250.000 per couple and you wear your rings home the same day.

1. Make Each Other's Rings

The most personal thing you can bring home from Uluwatu is a ring your partner made for you. In the Couple Silver Class you sit at two benches side by side, each with one to six grams of pure silver, and a Balinese silversmith guides you both.

How it goes:

  1. Measure each other. Size the bands, sketch the pair and choose the profiles.
  2. Fire and grain. The silver is melted, poured and rolled into wire.
  3. Forge the pair. Saw, solder and shape, often each band by the other's hand.
  4. Engrave and exchange. A word, a date or initials inside the band, a final polish, and the trade.

The engraving is included. It takes one to two hours, unhurried, and runs daily from 9 AM to 5 PM, or as a night class until 10 PM. Planning a proposal? Tell us when you book: proposals are kept in strict confidence, and the engraving stays a surprise until the exchange.

For an anniversary, the Anniversary Package adds a bottle to celebrate with, opened at your table when the rings are done (Rp 2.100.000 per couple).

2. Sunset and the Kecak Dance at Uluwatu Temple

Pura Luhur Uluwatu stands on a cliff high above the Indian Ocean, and the walk along the clifftop paths at the end of the day is one of the classic Bali moments. Most evenings a Kecak dance is performed near the temple around sunset, with a circle of chanting performers telling a story from the Ramayana. Arrive early for a good seat, dress respectfully (a sarong is provided at the temple entrance), and keep sunglasses and phones close: the temple monkeys are quick.

3. A Quiet Beach Morning

Uluwatu's beaches sit at the bottom of the cliffs, which keeps many of them calm early in the day. Go in the morning, before the heat and the crowds, and bring water: some beaches have long staircases down. Check the tide and surf before you swim, and swim where others do.

4. A Couples Massage

Many spas on the Bukit offer treatments for two, some with views over the ocean. A traditional Balinese massage after a beach morning or before an evening out is an easy way to slow the day down. Book ahead in high season.

5. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner at The House

The House Café is open daily from 9 AM to 10 PM for breakfast, lunch and dinner, inside a Balinese house of bamboo halls, Balinese paintings and a garden with the Peace Gong. Walk-ins are welcome without a class. If you are doing the Couple Silver Class anyway, stay for a meal afterwards and look at your new rings in daylight.

6. Take Photos Together

When you travel as two, most photos have only one of you in them. At The House there are four photo spots, from the carved candi gate to the Peace Gong in its round stone window, and our team is happy to take photos of you together on your phone.

7. Watch the Surf From the Cliffs

Even if neither of you surfs, the breaks below the Uluwatu cliffs are worth watching. Find a clifftop spot in the late afternoon, order a fresh juice or a coconut, and watch the sets roll in.

8. A Paragliding or Viewpoint Afternoon

For a bit of adventure, tandem paragliding flights run along parts of the Bukit coast when the wind is right. If you would rather stay on the ground, the clifftop viewpoints around the peninsula give you the same coastline at sunset.

Planning a Day for Two

A relaxed day for couples in Uluwatu might look like this:

  • Morning: beach and breakfast.
  • Late morning: the Couple Silver Class at Bali Jewelry House, Jl. Toya Ning I, Ungasan, about 15 minutes from Uluwatu Temple.
  • Lunch: at The House Café.
  • Afternoon: a massage or a rest.
  • Sunset: Uluwatu Temple and the Kecak dance.

Book the class on WhatsApp with your date and preferred time; we answer the same day. If you need ring sizes in advance, our ring size finder helps, though your silversmith measures you at the bench anyway.
